Transformers Beast Wars D-12 Megastorm is a Mega Class scaled figure that stands 10-inches tall in robot mode and transforms from robot to Tank and back.  

The Transformers: Beast Wars features the heroic Maximals vs. the evil Predacons in a battle for a primitive world where every figure in the toyline transforms from a robot to a beast.  Accompanied by a CGI cartoon, Beast Wars has Optimus Prime and Megatron reborn with their new Beast forms, and adds new scales to the classes of Transformers:  Basic Class, Deluxe Class, Mega Class, Ultra Class and even Super Class.  

The Japanese Beast Wars toyline took the US based figures but maintained their Cybertron (Autobot) or Destron (Decepticon) factions using this in numbering each figure.  Additionally in Japan they introduced not only remolded and recolored figures starting with the Beast Wars II line but also introduced entirely new characters and molds.  The second new toyline was named Beast Wars Neo and featured almost entirely new molds, many remolds and recolors as well as VS. packs.  The final toyline in Japan was called Beast Wars Metals that was similar to the Transmetals line released in the US.  This line featured more accurate color schemes to the animated TV series and metallic paint applications.  Japan also saw a 10th anniversary line of Beast Wars figures named Beast Wars Telemocha.

Beast Wars II Megastorm

I have to say that I *love* the figure. Created using the larger G2 Megatron mold, Megastorm shares a lot of the same gimmicks (spring loaded head transformation, firing missiles), the only thing he's 'missing' is G2 Megatron's voice & sound effects.

I actually like the figure for its use of grey (instead of purple) camouflage paint apps & (most importantly) the 'racoon mask' paint application to his face; as it does help to differentiate him a little more from G2 Megatron.

A great toy in its own right, or a great stand-in for a G2 Megatron; either way you can't go wrong with him!
