COUNTDOWN: 35 ‘perfect shots’ from Transformers: Rise of the Beasts

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts has finally made it to digital home release, giving us plenty of opportunity to pour over every detail of the new film in full HD glory!

So with that in mind, we’ve combed through the two-hour adventure and selected 35 of the most “perfect shots” for your viewing pleasure!

MASSIVE SPOILERS ahead in case you haven’t seen the film!

#35:

Airazor may not have transformed into a robot form during Rise of the Beasts, but at least her beast mode looked suitably stunning whenever it graced the screen!

#34:

Apelinq’s appearance was by far and away one of the film’s most significant deep cuts when it comes to referencing Transformers lore, and although the character didn’t have too much screen time, he remains suitably memorable.

#33:

A dramatic action shot here… although one just mere moments before tragedy!

#32:

You absolutely cannot go wrong with a planet-devouring Unicron-sized opening sequence, and in that regard, Rise of the Beasts did not disappoint.

#31:

Optimus Prime was on such fine form in this film that it would be perfectly possible to make this entire list about him! Here he is getting his arse handed to him by Scourge and looking fairly surprised about it.

#30:

Surely one of the best-looking bad guys of any live-action Transformers film so far, Battletrap lit up the screen whenever he appeared. Sure, he didn’t say much, but he sure made an impression all the same.

#29:

Here we have the Terrorcons doing what they do and looking absolutely terrific as they go. ‘Nuff said.

#28:

Scourge’s twisted persona and horrific masked face made for many striking shots throughout the film, such as this moment when he is communicating with his master, Unicron.

#27:

Here’s human-friendly character Mirage looking all handsome and hanging out with Noah and his brother. He’s just one of the boys!

#26:

Love him or hate him, there’s no denying that Pablo Wheeljack had a few fun moments throughout the film, not least of which was this conversation about his accent.

#25:

It was brief, but there’s something about this shot that cannot help but amuse. Sure, the outfits are ridiculous, but if anything, it’s the photorealistic Arcee just chilling out in the back there that really seals it.

#24:

This is the third live-action interpretation of Arcee we’ve had now, and it’s hard to argue against it being the best.

#23:

Optimus Primal finally made it to the big screen in this film and it was just about everything that long-time Beast Wars fans were hoping for! Here he is amongst his adopted sanctuary in Peru.

#22:

As Scourge gains possession of the transwarp key, all hope seems lost, perfectly punctuated by this sombre shot of the main Maximal monkey looking downbeat.

#21:

It’s incredible to see Optimus Prime and Optimus Primal together side-by-side, and this ‘roll out!” snippet was surely a highlight!

#20:

Just another shot of Scourge looking badass. What more could you ask for?

#19:

It was great to see more of Mirage’s holographic abilities in action, especially when they looked as good as this!

#18:

A rare moment of levity in the final battle here, as Primal steals Prime’s thunder.

#17:

Unicron looms ominously as the battle rages below. This design is practically perfect for the first true live-action realisation of the chaos bringer.

#16:

The money shot. This moment still brings the chills!

#15:

Noah gets in on the action with his new exo-suit, as human and Autobot fight together to win the day.

#14:

Prime may be down, but Scourge turns to see what’s on the horizon…

#13:

Don’t call it a comeback! It’s just Bumblebee back from the dead and up to his usual tricks again.

#12:

Don’t ask where he got the chance to scan an updated alternate mode but no matter, ‘Bee is looking on fine form here!

#11:

The exo suit was glimpsed in action prior to the film’s release, but it’s terrific to see it in full HD glory now the film is on digital release.

#10:

No one on Earth saw this? Because of a storm cloud? Really? Oh well, it looks cool.

#9:

You can’t deny Scourge is pretty tough, as even lava doesn’t quite take him down!

#8:

Just an instant classic Optimus Prime shot. Look at him there all moody.

#7:

Bumblebee gets his Autobot symbol back! He’ll need a dab of superglue, mind.

#6:

Noah looks on as Optimus Prime prepares to sacrifice himself to save the Earth, as he expression surely sells the moment.

#5:

The remaining Terrorcon army prepares to swarm Optimus as he stands ready to destroy the transwarp key.

Phwwwwwwoooooaaaarrr.

Till all are one! It was such a thrill to see Autobots, Maximals and humans working together like this.

Just our heroes lined up all victorious, with the Steve Jablonsky nod in the score being the crowning glory.

He’s smiling! Bless him. He’s had a long day but it was great to see this little grin right at the end.
