Twitter can often prove to be a great way to waste an hour or five, but it’s also a plentiful resource of creative Transformers material! You never know what people will be post next – photos, customs, artwork, trivia… it’s endless. So, in the spirit of the Twitter tradition known as #FF (which stands for “follow Friday”, where people highlight the accounts that they think other users might be interested in), for today’s Countdown we’re rounding up 18 Tweets from April that caught our eye. They’re presented here in no particular order, as they’re all worth a look!

When life gives you a grim lock-down, make Grimlock!
My Easter project. 6ft4, scratch built, cardboard, transforming Grimlock. @Hasbro @wardenfive #transformers #lockdownart #NewHousemate pic.twitter.com/fiKw2Zq8Bi— Steve Cook (@SDC_MisterJazzz) April 20, 2020
Steve Cook stunned Transformers Twitter this month by unveiling not one, but two incredible cardboard models of some classic G1 characters, Grimlock and Megatron. The big twist? They’re larger than most humans! Steve regularly posts fantastic artwork, although these might just be his crowning glory!
Second week of lockdown meant I was able to finish the first part of a school project. A 6 ft 8 transforming Megatron. Based on the Thrilling 30 legend.#LockdownHousemate @Hasbro pic.twitter.com/llRjv6ChYM

Preview of Operation 5yo Birthday Cake, Phase 1: Lumpy fondant Ultra Magnus! Unlike the fictional Magnus, he's 100% edible.#Transformers #トランスフォーマー #TFTOYの面白さを伝え隊 #UltraMagnus #Cake pic.twitter.com/7Us9idT2Ik
— Chris QQ (@chchchch1tf) April 21, 2020
Chris QC has shared photos of his Transformers-themed culinary creations before, but he recently took the biscuit with these two tasty treats! They’re both part of the same cake, which means that’s one very lucky little Transformers fan who has a special birthday coming up. Sweet!

— ian reid (@ian_reid) April 21, 2020
Ian is a well-known Transformers photographer, but rather than a studio-style snap we were instead treated to a behind-the-scenes of his Nemesis Prime collection this month, and it’s rather impressive! Can you name them all?

Lets go back to some G1 concept art. This time we have a Ferrari Testarossa concept from the Headmasters era and a F1 car and Shuttle that where meant for Masterforce. The caption for the F1 and shuttle says that they eventually ended up as Road King and Galaxy Shuttle when sold. pic.twitter.com/UGlJXYsVuH
— TFRaw.com Transformers Multimedia Archive (@walruslaw) April 21, 2020
TFRaw.com has a mission of archiving rare and obscure Transformers media, and this month unveiled some rather wonderful concept artwork from the mid-80s. Very interesting to see what was originally envisaged!

Sometimes you need a good meme for a giggle, and this effort from @HouseholdWheel struck that chord.
#13
Well, I didn't go by the daily prompt, but I had to take part in #ProwlWeek
Good cop or bad cop, gotta love Prowl. pic.twitter.com/ey0IVdyaWD
— Casey W. Coller (@CaseyWColler) April 22, 2020
Casey W. Coller is an established Transformers comic artist who produces some incredible clean lines and visually-stunning scenes! This month he shared a take on the classic G1 police lad, Prowl, and it’s really something.

— Transformers Wiki (@tfwiki) April 22, 2020
TFWiki is well-known for sharing interesting or unique facts about the Transformers franchise, but this tweet regarding early concept artwork for Beast Wars Optimus Primal particularly caught our eye this month! It’s fascinating to see how the concept developed, including that distinctive mutant mask.
#11:
Big guys are cool, too.
Metroplex, Fortress Maximus, and Trypticon. pic.twitter.com/OabtD5haxl— Joel Carroll (@joelcarroll) April 22, 2020
Joel Carroll is a cartoonist with an unmistakable style, and one that he certainly put to good use when bringing these citybots to life! Lovely stuff.

— Visualocity (@Micro_Action) April 23, 2020
OK, this is kinda Transformers-related… if you haven’t come across TakaraTomy’s reboot Diaclone line then it’s definitely a thing of beauty, although amassing a collection like this is truly an impressive thing, as this tweet will attest.

Won’t lie, did lol.

It's #GCWO bonus time! Did you know because he was packed on Cliffjumpers card there was no decent Bumper Transformers boxart?
After a lot of Photoshop magic there is now! As a special bonus I put it on a 1984 Prerub minibot card! Don't say I never did nuffin' for ya! pic.twitter.com/YsXHoab49J
— Kit (@tikgnat) April 25, 2020
In case you missed it then I’ve been involved with a project named #GCWO on social media, where I’ve joined forces with @TFSquareOne, @ToyboxSoapbox and @tikgnat to publish daily mini-reviews of G1 toys across various platforms. We’re already five weeks in, and it was my turn this month to share an overview of the rather unusual toy known as Bumper, who of course never actually got a proper release as he only came packaged on Cliffjumper cards. There was packaging art created for him in G1, but it’s only ever been available online in relatively low quality – until now! Kit has done an amazing job at enhancing, restoring and recreating every bit of this distinctive artwork, all nicely presented on a G1-style card. So good!

This is my collection of them: pic.twitter.com/TEBl3wPzVX
— SQ7▪Allen G▪ 001 (@Superquad7) April 26, 2020
Minispies! These little lads came packaged with the original Minibots when they were re-released in 1985 and remain a real quirk of early Generation 1. Although there were only ever 4 moulds, they were all available in multiple colours and there were many variations beyond that, making a complete collection a challenging prospect. This month we were treated to a look at @Superquad7’s line-up and it’s an impressive thing indeed!

a little optimusm pic.twitter.com/bLTElhOjm6
— Dan Hipp (@MISTERHIPP) April 27, 2020
Dan Hipp helped shape the artwork for the cartoon, TeenTitansGO!, so perhaps it’s no surprise that his distinctive style has produced just about the cutest Optimus Prime you ever did see! Adorbs!
#5:
Latest custom from me, This is my take on Triggerbot Backstreet, I honestly he really works as a modern take on the old 88 dude #Transformers #Custom #Backstreet #G1 pic.twitter.com/IKG1JoUdcq
— @TheClutterdDesk (@TheClutterdDesk) April 27, 2020
@TheClutterdDesk regularly posts some impressive Transformers customs but something about this month’s effort really stood out. G1 Autobot Backstreet doesn’t get enough love, so it was great to see him given such a modern twist here. Fantastic work indeed!
#4:
"Autobots! Transform and Roll Out" – loved voicing #OptimusPrime in the #TransformersAnimated series. You are right @KyleDalian & #Autobots – we DO NEED more TRANSFORMERS Animated!@cartoonnetwork @derekwyatt @Enewsi @BeastWarsTF @BeastWarsTF @transformers pic.twitter.com/FQw55CDQzM
— David Kaye (@dkayevo) April 27, 2020
If you’ve never heard of David Kaye then you’ve almost certainly heard him! He started working on Transformers as the iconic voice of Megatron in the Beast Wars cartoon, before going on to starring roles in Beast Machines, Armada, Energon, Cybertron and Transformers: Animated. Phew! He clearly still has a lot of passion for the franchise as he regularly gives a nod to fans, but this appeal to bring back the Animated cartoon was definitely met with a lot of enthusiasm! It’s unlikely to happen but we can only hope, eh?

Transformers and Bumblebee film size comparison, they doesn't compare to the original pic.twitter.com/vGeCazfXAD— G1 Grimlock (@G1Grimlock1) April 27, 2020
Here we get a look at how the live action designs of the Bumblebee live action film compare in size to those of the earlier Transformers films, and you’ll no doubt notice that they’re a little on the smaller side! Particularly Optimus who suddenly looks rather wee, bless him.

We love Transformers and we love Lego. Oh hey, and we also love Action Masters! Which makes this creative take on the classic design top notch in our book.

boom. can’t mess this one up pic.twitter.com/pNClPygfku
— jared (@machtackle) April 30, 2020
Everyone and their gran has been out sharing that meme where they try and pair up two separate images this month, with the most common one involving a pair of legs. If you have no idea what I’m talking about then honestly, I don’t know how I’d even begin to explain it to you, but let’s just say that this tweet should make you chuckle if you get the reference.
So that’s our list. Did we miss any other great Transformers tweets?
