Toy Review: Unique Toys’ O-05 Hagen

UT Hagen

It’s a bird! It’s a pla… nevermind; it’s a giant robot bird.

Unique Toys’ Hagen is a big high and a big low for me. It’s a high in having finished off the Ordin combiner team but a low in it being possibly my least favorite of the group. The design is pretty bland, and although it does have heels, the wings do make it back-heavy in robot mode so everytime I so much as tapped it, I felt like I was re-positioning the heels to balance him (points to Unique Toys for having heels that can be re-positioned to help with this). I don’t know how things will be distributed out for the retail release but mine had only come with the fist for combined mode in terms of accessories.

I like the general design of the alt. mode and although I understand it needs to be the same size as the others (particularly Alberich) to be correctly sized as a limb. However, it keeps the deluxe-styled detailing and general design which looks “off” at such a large size. It’s definitely functional but just a bit jarring aesthetically.

Even though this one isn’t my favorite of the group, it still isn’t a “bad” toy per se. On the plus side, you will get the feeling of having completed all of Ordin and the only thing left to do will be combine that sucker!
